NextGen Office PDMP Monitoring- Prescription Drug Monitoring Program

NextGen Office PDMP Monitoring- Prescription Drug Monitoring Program

NextGen Office is working with Appriss Health to enable our providers to quickly and easily check their states Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) database without leaving our application.

PDMPs are designed to help healthcare providers deal with the burgeoning opioid epidemic. They are operated and mandated at the state level to ensure prescribers have the information they need to identify patients who are addicted, or at risk of becoming addicted to these dangerous drugs.

Additionally automatically querying your state’s PDMP database gives you credit for the new MIPS bonus measure Query of Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)*

The PDMP Report module is available from the patient chart in Medication List and the encounter in Prescribe and Medication History. When a prescriber with valid credentials navigates to any of these pages, NextGen® Office sends a request to Appriss Health for the patient's NarxCare scores and PDMP report.

PDMP Report Overview

The NarxCare scores appear in the module if they are active in your state and if you requested the feature from Appriss Health. NarxCare scores are designed to make prescribers aware of significant PDMP data. You can find detailed information about NarxCare scores in the PDMP report section of NextGen Office

View the PDMP Report

We record whether you have viewed the patient's PDMP report in preparation of our future support of the MIPS bonus measure, Query of Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).

When you view the PDMP report for a patient, we add a message under the Prescribe section of Encounter Summary Preview, the clinical summary preview, and the clinical summary PDF stating that a PDMP was queried for this patient.
View Report: PDMP report opens and we automatically timestamp when you reviewed the report

Manual Check Box

Select the I have viewed a PDMP report for this patient check box if you have viewed a PDMP report from the state's PDMP website (and not through our application). We automatically timestamp upon selection.

PDMP Report with NarxCare Scores Enabled

Practices with NarxCare scores enabled will have more information in their PDMP reports, including a risk indicators section, which contains NarxCare scores, the overdose risk score, and additional risk indicators, and a graph showing prescriptions in the last two years. For details on NarxCare scores, the overdose risk score, or additional risk indicators, click the Explanation and Guidance links.
