Multiple or near identical records can
occur when patient data moves in and out of Lytec, for
instance in the case of using an EMR package. When multiple
patient records have been created for the same patient the
Merge Patient Utility can be used to make them one again.
The merge feature combines one
patient's charges, payments, appointments, billing, history,
patient notes, patient images, and A/R management notes into
another patient' record. The demographic data, which
includes elements such as name, address, telephone numbers,
etc., is NOT merged. When you complete the data merge, the
first patient's record is deleted. The demographic data of
the remaining record is unchanged from the merge process.
The demographic information in the
Merge Into Patient field will remain unchanged after the
merge. The record in the Merge From Patient field is deleted
after the merge.

SECURITY AND AUDITING:
Two other key elements of this feature
are Auditing and Security.
The Audit Log tracks the results of the
Patient Merge Utility and will track the results as a
default setting. If auditing is enabled, you can then review
merge events by running an Audit Trail report, which is
available from the Reports menu Audit menu. To review the
Audit Trail settings, select Audit Trail from the Settings
Menu. The Merge Patient Setting appears under Activities.
